Allegany Business Center’s
Networking Night a Success!

ACCORD’s Allegany Business Center, in conjunction with Steuben Trust Company held a successful Business Networking Night on Wednesday, April 16th at the Crossroads Commerce Center in Belmont.  Over 20 start-up and existing businesses exhibited their wares at the table-top expo.  The show boasted a variety of products from Allegany County businesses; everything from Mexican art to composting toilets!  Over 50 people attended the event and enjoyed delicious food provided by Cat’s Café and Gifts of Wellsville.

The event was part of the Business Center’s Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP); a 10- week class designed to assist start-up and expanding businesses.  As part of the event, EAP students and alumni were invited to display table-top exhibits to promote their businesses.  Local economic development officials, and representatives from the event sponsor, Steuben Trust Company, were also on hand.

In addition to sponsoring the Networking Night, Steuben Trust Company is also providing a $500 start-up grant for the winner of a business plan contest held in conjunction with the EAP class.  The winner will also receive a one-year membership in the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce provided by the Chamber.

Business Counselor Talks Tech to Local Seniors

On Friday, April 18th, one of our Business Counselors was given the opportunity to work with local seniors at the Senior Forum held by the Allegany County Office of the Aging. Mike Miller taught two classes on "How to e-mail your grandkids". Many of the seniors started learning the basics of computer use by using a computer program while Mr. Miller guided them through any trouble spots they had.

This years Senior Forum was held at the Genesee Valley Central School in Belmont. The e-mail class was held in the Library while other courses took place on topics such as bird watching, help with prescription medication, and others.
